An event this weekend will help drivers replace their license plate if it is starting to fade.
State Representative Aaron Bernstine is hosting a Hard to Read License Plate event this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Prospect Borough Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Plates illegible from 50 feet away could be subject to a fine. Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe will inspect plates and determine if blistered, peeling or discolored plates are eligible for a free replacement.
Those looking to take advantage of this event should drive the vehicle with the affected plate, as well as bring the registration card and driver’s license. Specialty plates cannot be processed at this event.
