A local lawmaker is hosting a job fair and toy drive to help employees of the recently closed Ellwood City Medical Center.
Representative Aaron Bernstine is hosting a health professionals job fair on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Ellwood City Municipal Building Auditorium. This event is open to current and former employees of the Ellwood City Medical Center. Ten medical facility recruiters are expected to attend.
Bernstine and his wife Ilia have also set up a GoFundMe page, Holiday Support for Ellwood Hospital Employees, to raise money for those who have been laid off. Some of that money will be used to purchase toys for kids whose parents have been impacted. Employees interested in receiving gifts for their children are asked to submit their information to Bernstine’s website by Thursday at the latest.
The last outpatient services at Ellwood City Medical Center were completed on Tuesday and the remaining 79 employees were told to go home.
