A local lawmaker is putting forward a package of bills he believes will secure the election process across the state.
Republican Representative Aaron Bernstine recently introduced legislation that would require the Pennsylvania Department of State to update the full voter export list daily instead of weekly as well as include a detailed breakdown of when voter registration information is altered in order to identify suspicious trends.
Also, this initiative would require county election boards to verify voter registration applicants within 96 hours, increase penalties for fraudulent voting to a fine of $50,000 and a mandatory minimum of 30 days in jail for each occurrence, and incentivize the reporting of election fraud with the awarding of 50% of any fine collected.
Bernstine maintains this proposal would allow voters to have confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the election process.
