Congressman Mike Kelly is introducing a resolution looking to expand the power of the temporary Speaker of the House.
Kelly says that the resolution would give Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry more power to help Congress move critical legislation.
The temporary resolution would run until the election of a new speaker or on November 17th, which is when the current continuing resolution that funds the government is set to expire.
The resolution comes ahead of today’s Speaker of the House vote, which Republicans have nominated Ohio Representative Jim Jordan.
Kelly’s office tells our newsroom that he will be voting for Steve Scalise, who dropped out of the speaker race last week.
