Congressman Mike Kelly is joining others lawmakers introducing a new act that looks to ensure healthcare for those with End Stage Renal Disease.
It’s called the “Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act” and it comes following a Supreme Court ruling that allowed private health care plans to force ESRD patients onto Medicare.
Kelly and other lawmakers argue that this creates a disruption in coverage, which can cause issues when the patients need dialysis.
Those in favor of the bill say it also shifts a significant payment of the plans onto Medicare instead of the private healthcare companies.
