A local lawmaker is reacting as the United States House of Representatives opens an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
Following an announcement by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, Republican Mike Kelly of Butler issued a statement Wednesday encouraging colleagues to “follow the facts to where they lead”.
In recent months, various House committees have investigated if the actions of Biden’s son Hunter connect to the President. Kelly says that those efforts have “produced important information, but questions still remain.” Kelly concluded his statement by saying that “We will go where the evidence takes us. The American people deserve the truth”.
Regarding the 2019 first impeachment inquiry into former President Donald Trump, Kelly at the time called the proceedings “a mirage…to create the perception of fairness”.
