Congressman Mike Kelly is providing more information on a task force he is leading to figure out what happened the day of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13th. Kelly has several questions he wants answered including who decided to come to the Butler Farm Show Grounds, pre-rally planning, and why were their problems with communication.
“I want to get find out about site selection, the whole time through the preparation, what were the concerns, and if there was a problem with communication, we should have known that ahead of time,” Kelly told our newsroom.
The 13 member task force is composed of seven Republicans and six Democrats. Kelly said the group is invested in finding answers and not using it “to make a spectacle” of the event.
Kelly also wants to know why the rally even started, if the suspicious person was spotted before the former President got on stage.
“If you weren’t sure the site was secure, why was former President Donald Trump allowed to go onto that platform, because not only was the President in danger but the crowd was in danger too.”
