Congressman Mike Kelly is hoping to bring federal dollars into the area that would go toward several construction projects.
The Republican from Butler filed a request of more than $39 million for seven transportation projects in the 16th Congressional District. Two of the projects include money for the Route 68 Corridor near Butler and the Route 228 project.
Kelly’s ask for funds are a part of the return of earmarks in Congress, which is a system that allows members to submit projects in their districts for consideration.
Congressman Conor Lamb of the 17th District made a request of $22 million for projects in his district.
