Nearly $3 million in federal funding is coming to Butler County as part of the recently passed omnibus bill.
Congressman Mike Kelly says the projects he requested to be a part of the bill were included when it passed earlier this week.
The largest portion of funding is for the Pittsburgh-Butler Airport in Penn Township. $2 million has been set aside to help with the expansion of a runway and other airport renovations. Kelly projects this will create new jobs at the airport and result in more economic development.
Nearly $1 million is going toward the Cranberry Township Sanitary Sewer System project. It will create a new connection to allow the Breakneck Creek Regional Authority to treat sanitary sewage at its own treatment facility.
There were more than $8 million secured for projects in the 16th District.
