A local lawmaker is supporting efforts to ease regulatory conditions in order to lower energy costs and stimulate local economies.
U.S. Representative Mike Kelly, of Butler, recently signed onto an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the completion of the Mountain Valley pipeline.
This over 300 mile long pipeline is over 90% complete and received approval from Congress, the President, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission but was halted earlier this month by a ruling from the Fourth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
Upon completion, the Mountain Valley Pipeline would allow transport of gas from Pennsylvania to several southern states.
