Congressman Mike Kelly is urging action on his proposed legislation that he says will strengthen steel trade practices.
At an annual “State of Steel” Congressional hearing, Kelly touted his bipartisan legislation that looks to prevent a practice known as “dumping,” which is when foreign nations sell subsidized goods in the U.S. and devalue the prices of steel.
Kelly spoke with steel industry leaders yesterday.
“I’m going to encourage you all to stay on it. Don’t back off of this because we can’t afford to lose market share to those who game the whole system. It’s unfair competition,” Kelly said.
The bill is known as the STEEL Act, and was introduced by Kelly and Democratic Congressman Chris Deluzio.
