Congressman Mike Kelly is siding with a majority of Republicans but going against President Donald Trump in a couple of votes that happened last night.
Kelly voted to override the President’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act. He said while he supports Trump’s efforts to amend or abolish Act 230—which deals with big tech content providers—he didn’t want to delay defense spending.
Kelly issued a statement via email.
“The NDAA outlines the budget and policies the Department of Defense uses to plan for the next year. While I support the president’s goal of amending or abolishing Section 230, that debate must not delay military planning for 2021.”
Kelly also voted against raising the amount of stimulus checks to $2,000, citing that he prefers more targeted relief and to reopen the Pennsylvania economy.
