One of the notable proposals in Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget address this week, was a plan to bring the State System of Higher Education under the same administrative umbrella as community colleges.
Republican State Representative Marci Mustello of Butler says this move could have a big impact on both Butler County Community College and Slippery Rock University.
“I’m not sure how he proposed doing that, or why he is proposing to do that,” Mustello said. “I just know that I don’t want Butler County to be negatively impacted or effected.”
Shapiro believes putting both PASSHE and community colleges under one governing board will prevent program duplication.
