A group of state senators were in Beaver County yesterday where they heard from residents about issues they’ve had since the train derailment in Eastern Ohio.
A number of residents testified at the hearing, which was held at the Community College of Beaver County.
“Somebody needs to come forward and step up to address the questions and concerns of all the people. These people took time out of their day to come here, and so far they haven’t been heard,” Lori O’Connell of Darlington Township said.
Republican State Senator Doug Mastriano meanwhile was hoping to hear from one particular witness, who did not show up.
“Our first witness was to be the CEO of Norfolk Southern. But as you can see we have an empty chair here as he decline to come,” Mastriano said.
The NTSB released their first preliminary report, which said the train had wheel bearings that overheated causing the derailment.
