A new study reveals that the spotted lanternfly is not only causing environmental problems in the state, but is also hurting the economy.
Penn State’s College of Agricultural Science has been looking into what the effects caused by the spotted lanternfly since it first emerged in Pennsylvania back in 2014.
The study says that the lanterfly costs the PA economy nearly $50 million per year because of damages to vineyards, nurseries, and other businesses.
The study also showed that the invasive pet has also wiped out hundreds of jobs.
