State legislators have until the end of the month to come up with a budget for the remaining fiscal year.
Lawmakers passed a temporary five month budget earlier this year, with the goal of providing enough funding for education in the Commonwealth.
As the financial picture starts to come together for the state, one lawmaker says it’s better than anticipated.
“Very conservative fiscal projections by both the independent fiscal office and our department of revenue, building our revenue capacity to nearly $2 billion above that, will be closer than it would otherwise be,” State Senator Pat Browne (R-16) said.
He says that better than expected sales, personal income and corporate taxes are part of the reason why the budget looks a little more favorable.
