On August 27, 2024, God called one of his faithful servants home. Reverend Henry B. Hall, Jr. of Butler, PA, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 88. Reverend Hall dedicated his entire life to serving God and offering the unconditional love of Christ to humanity.
He was born on February 26, 1936, in Highpoint, NC to Gladys and Henry Hall. He attended Highpoint schools before heading to Nyack College. While attending Nyack College, he met his wife, Janice, and they were married on August 4, 1956. He then obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959.
After graduation, Reverend Hall was appointed as pastor at Kennard and Fallowfield churches where he served for seven years before being appointed Associate pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Butler, PA. From there, he was assigned to Nixon United Methodist Church in Nixon, PA where he served for 28 years before retiring in 1996. He continued on as Chaplain at the Butler VA Hospital before retiring from there in 2009 after 17 years of service.
Reverend Hall never stopped learning. In addition to his Bachelor of Science degree from Nyack College, he had a Bachelor of Arts degree from Thiel College, a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Oberlin College, a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Arts degree from Slippery Rock University and a Doctor of Humanities degree from the University of Metaphysics.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Hall, his children, Jeff and Cheryl Hall, John and Jean Hall, Brian and Cassie Hall, Nancy and Dave Kasenic, Mark and Lisa Hall, his grandchildren, Nathan and Jill Hall, Brianne and Greg Deal, Rebecca and Griffin Kinnish, Mark and Karen Hall, Melissa and Matt Green, Brody and Abbey Travers, Kendall and Jason Huston, Sydney Travers, Abby Hall and Josh Royer, Daniel Hall and Jeffrey Couch, Conor Hall and Alleah Young, Spencer Hall, and his great grandchildren, Cooper Hall, Espn and Violet Deal, Emma and Halie Kinnish, Merrit and Iris Hall, Waylon and Owen Green, Zoe and Charlie Travers, Madyson, Mackenzie, Maddix, Grayson and Elizabeth Huston and Adrianna Royer.
Reverend Hall will be missed and, for many, the world will never feel quite the same.
“You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith.” May you rest in peace, Dad. We will never forget you. You did great.
Family and friends will be received from 11AM-1PM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darrell Greenawalt of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, PA officiating.
