Two local groups are temporarily increasing the reward for information about a cold case that occurred in 1976 in nearby Beaver County.
According to our news partners at WPXI, the Beaver County and Pennsylvania Crime Watchers are offering a $10,000 reward for information about the disappearance and murder of 12-year-old Heidi Morningstar. The reward was recently increased to $10,000 due to a $5,000 match from the Beaver County Crime Watchers.
Officials say that Morningstar disappeared from her Ambridge home in the middle of the night back on September 17th, 1976 after her parents were called away from the residence due to an emergency. Her body was found the following day in Edgeworth. No one was ever convicted in connection with her disappearance or murder.
The increase in reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those involved will begin December 5th, and will continue until December 12th. Anyone with information can call the Pennsylvania Crime Watchers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS or the Crime Solvers of Beaver County at 724-774-2000.
