Richard Hempfling, 74, of Butler passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was born in Butler on September 8, 1950, to the late Paul and Dorothy (Hutchinson) Hempfling. Richard graduated from Slippery Rock Area High School and was employed at Pullman Standard and then United Refining where he retired as a manager. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Steelers and spending time with his grandchildren. Richard was active in his church and taught Sunday School, RCIA, and was a member of the men’s club. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Kimberly Ann (Shea) Hempfling, since their marriage on November 14, 1975; father of Richard (Athena) Hempfling Jr., Tara (Adam) Blose, Ashley (Chad) Young, and Tyler (Tiffany) Hempfling; brother of Ed, Rob, Becky and Darlene; grandfather of 10 grandchildren; great grandfather of 1 great granddaughter and 1 great grandson on the way. Along with his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law.
