Richard L. “Doc” Holliday, 66, of Chicora, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday morning, April 20, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, while surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in Brookville, Jefferson County on October 30, 1955. He was the son of the late Melvin L. and Katherine E. Kamerer Holliday. He was a 1973 graduate of Karns City Area High School, and a member of the McKee Chapel United Methodist church in Fenelton. In his earlier years, Doc was employed at Friedman’s in Chicora, and was a truck driver for most of his working life. Richard was most recently employed at Walmart in Butler. Doc was an avid car enthusiast, and enjoyed building model cars. He also enjoyed watching old movies on TV, most especially westerns, and visiting with his friends.
Richard was a very patriotic American, and was proud of his service in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, earning the rank of Specialist E-4 while stationed in Germany.

Richard is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Hillwig and her husband Darrel, of Bruin, and Lisa D. Heilman, of Leechburg; his nieces and nephews, Michael Hillwig (Matt Shea), of Pittsburgh, Darcie Paule (David), of Fenelton, and Logan A. Heilman, of Leechburg; his great-nieces and nephews, Sarah, Garrett, and Ella; as well as a number of cousins and friends.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, pastor of the Faith Community United Methodist Church in Bruin, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to a Veterans Charity.
