A local group is continuing their mission of helping cancer patients with expenses through their latest charitable donation.
The group raised $60,000 this year and presented a check to Butler Health System President and CEO Ken DeFurio Thursday afternoon.
The funds will all stay local to help Butler and Armstrong residents battling cancer. The group was recently able to pay off the past due bills of an elderly woman so that she is able to afford necessities like food and utilities.
In the past nine years of the Ride for the Cure fundraiser, the group has been able to donate more than $300,000 to the Butler Health System Foundation.
