Members of churches from all across area gathered outside Butler Memorial Hospital yesterday to thank and pray for healthcare workers. The event saw church members join together and hold lighted candles both early in the morning and evening.
Cheryl Ramsey is the Manager of Hospitality Services for the hospital. “It just makes the world of difference. I think it let’s our staff know there are people out there supporting them,” Ramsey said.
Ramsey said this time of year, members of the clergy usually hold a blessing of the hands for hospital workers.
However, the pandemic made it impossible to have the annual event this year. “We first started with Pastor Benson of Trinity Lutheran Church who asked what they can do for the hospital,” Ramsey said. “They made these great packets for us.”
The circle is being dubbed the “Ring of Light” and hospital workers were also seen waving cell phones lights back to the members thanking them for coming out.
