Robert A. Rakarich, age 84, of Butler, passed away of an illness on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 23, 1939, he was a son of the late Alden H. Bogan and Beatrice Swintowski Bogan Rakarich.
Bob formerly worked as a draftsman at Butler Armco. He later was employed at D & D Drafting and Design.
He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
Bob and his late wife Elizabeth loved to travel. Their trips took them to many places around the globe.
He also loved to dance and to tell bad jokes. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, shooting pool, riding motorcycles, exercising at the YMCA, working on antique cars, and attending car shows.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Jackman and her partner, Jonathan McMurdy, of Slippery Rock; two sons, Brian A. Rakarich and his wife, Christie, of Butler, and Brad A. Rakarich and his wife, Bonnie, of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dunlop Rakarich, of West Sunbury; one brother, Harry Bogan, of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Donna Bogan, of Toledo, Ohio, and Beverly Jakub, of Gibsonia; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth L. Amszi Rakarich, whom he married Nov. 25, 1961, and who passed away June 30, 2022; one son, Blaine A. Rakarich, who passed away Feb. 13, 2023; and his stepfather, Joseph D. Rakarich.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
A Blessing Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. James Kurtz, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Herman.
