Robert C. “Sponge Bob” Peters, age 67, of Butler, passed away Saturday at Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Butler on September 12, 1951, he was a son of the late Harold and Eleanor Craig Peters.
He was employed at Pullman Standard until it closed in 1982. He then worked as a self-employed painter.
He was a member of the French and Belgium Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Kayla Beth Chandler and her husband, Sean, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one sister, Brenda McKruit, of Chicora; one brother, Bruce Peters, of Butler; one granddaughter, Madilyn Elaine Chandler; several aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Pat “Pumpkin” Hilliard, of Petrolia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Hamilton Peters, who passed away January 31, 2009; and his brother-in-law, Ronald McKruit.
There will be no visitation, and burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 11, at 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 313 West Cunningham Street, Butler.
