Robert J. Shaner, age 95, of Muddy Creek Twp., peacefully passed away at his residence Saturday evening, December 19, 2020, of natural causes.
Born January 27, 1925 in Oil City, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Helen M Say Shaner.
He was a proud WWII US Navy Air Corp Veteran, who served 1943 to 1946.
He was a charter member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Portersville, where he and his wife were founding members. They also assisted in the establishment of the Portersville Christian School.
He retired after working 34 years as a machinist, first 29 years at the former Etna Standard/Blawnox in Ellwood City, and then finishing his last 5 years of his career at Portersville Valve Company.
Robert is survived by his children Mark (Diane) Shaner of Ellwood City and Eileen Shaner of Portersville, 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and his siblings Harvey Dale Shaner and Leatha Richardson all of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lela Jean Wise Shaner, who he married September 8, 1951 and who passed away on June 5, 2018; daughter Brenda McCormick; and his grandson Derrick Stevens.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, 9am until time of service at 11am at the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, pc, 387 Main Street, Prospect. The funeral service will be 11am, in the Funeral Home, with his pastor, Rev. Robert Frye, officiating.
Private interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
