Robert Leslie Beck, Sr., age 79, of Marienville, Pa., and Clairemont, Texas, formerly of Butler, passed away Dec. 31, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas.
Born in Butler on May 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Wilbur C. Beck, Sr. and Pearl Kerr Beck.
A retired steelworker, Bob worked at Butler Armco.
He played guitar and sang around countless campfires, always providing a guiding light with his handwritten lyric sheets for folks who wanted to sing along but couldn’t remember the words. He rode millions of miles on the back of a horse; drove millions of miles back-and-forth between Pennsylvania and Texas; and made millions of friends along the way. He was one-of-a-kind.
He is survived by three children, Connie Beck, of Butler, Robert Beck, Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Butler, and David Beck and his wife, Karen, of Butler; five grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Abagale, David and Justin; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Kennedy, of Cabot; and his special friend, Linda Dupe.
Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur C. Beck, Jr., Joseph M. Beck and William A. Beck; and one sister, Phyllis E. Tait.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Mon., Jan. 16, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
