Robert L. “Bob” Bowers, 80, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
He was born November 11, 1937 in East Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Lawrence A. Bowers and Marie (Lively) Bowers.
Bob was a 1957 graduate of Butler High School. He worked at Armco as a steel worker retiring in 1996 and also at Endicott Shoes. He was a member of Community Alliance Church where he was in the church choir, the church treasurer, and a youth sponsor. Bob was a member of the BUCO Travel Trailer Club. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed roller skating and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor J. “Tootie” Cuffman Bowers whom he married on June 14, 1957; three daughters, Bonnie Matonak and her husband James of Butler, PA, Susan Conrad and her husband John of Butler, PA, and Carol Lenhart and her husband Ron of Butler, PA; nine grandchildren, Dawn Henricks and her husband Jason, Joshua Matonak and his wife Dana, Kelly Tysk and her husband Joshua, Joel Matonak and his wife Krista, Danielle Neyman and her husband Roger, Melanie McDermid and her husband Matt, Chelsy Olsen and her husband Adam Alyssa Lenhart, Kayla Lenhart; nineteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence H. Bowers.
Friends will be received Friday, November 24, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, 16001. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Diane Cuffman, Pastoral Assistant of Memorial Park Church in Allison Park, Bob’s niece, officiating
Private burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
