Robert L. “Bob” Hobaugh, 66, a well-known Petrolia resident, passed away Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Robert was born in Butler on June 22, 1954. He was the son of the late George T. and Etheleen “Sis” Jackson Hobaugh.
He was a 1973 graduate of Karns City Area High School. He was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church. He was a long time member of the North Butler Hunting and Fishing Club. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, attending his grandkid’s ball games, paint by number, and tinkering in the garage. Bob enjoyed talking with people and could often be found at the auto parts store and looked forward to trips to the Uni-Mart and The Centurion visiting with his friends and neighbors.
Bob was employed for more than 10 years as a tanker truck driver for Penreco in Karns City. On April 1, 1993 Bob was involved in a tragic accident in the truck which left him disabled and confined to a wheelchair.
Surviving are two children, Jodi Dunlap and her husband, Eric, of Saxonburg and Brian Hobaugh and his wife, Heather, of Petrolia; his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Alexis and Tyson Dunlap and Liam and Cole Hobaugh; his brother, George J. Hobaugh and his wife, Donna, of Chicora; his sister, Karen Hobaugh Ryan of Karns City; his nieces and nephews, Jessica Bell and her husband, Adam, George Hobaugh and his wife, Nikki, Jared Ryan and Koren Aeppli and her husband, Joe; and his long time caretaker and nurses, Carla and Deb, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Ryan.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Dennis Barger, a long time family friend, officiating. Interment will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
