Former Slippery Rock University women’s soccer standout Sofia Harrison has been officially named to the FIFA Women’s World Cup roster when the Philippine Women’s National Team announced its 23-member roster during an event Sunday in Australia. The 2021 SRU graduate becomes the first Rock soccer player to ever be named to a World Cup roster. Harrison started 56 consecutive games for SRU beginning in 2017 and helped her team to the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship.
Harrison will make her World Cup debut July 21st against Switzerland in a match that will be played in Dunedin, New Zealand. That match will also mark the first World Cup match in the history of the Philippine Women’s National Team, which qualified this year for the first time ever.
