The Colorado Rockies swept a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 6-2 victory Wednesday afternoon in Denver. The Bucs managed just the two runs over three games at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Adam Frazier and Bryan Reynolds led the Pirates with two hits each yesterday. Reynolds hit his 14th home run of the season.
Frazier was leading All-Star voting at second base in the N.L. heading into the final day of voting. He has the second-best average in the National League. Outfielder Bryan Reynolds is fourth in average.
The Pirates open a seven-game home-stand tonight at PNC Park with the first of four games with the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm.
The first-place Brewers completed a series-sweep of the Chicago Cubs with a 15-7 victory Wednesday. Milwaukee came back from a 7-0 deficit by scoring 15 unanswered runs.
Voting for Major League Baseball’s All-Stars continues until 2pm today and the starting line-up announcement for the National and American League’s will be made tonight at 9pm on ESPN.
Pirate pitching prospects Quinn Priester and Roansy Contreras were named Wednesday to the All-Star Futures game which will be played July 11th in Denver as the precursor to the MLB All-Star Game.
