Rodger “Beetle” Betty

Rodger “Beetle” Betty, 77, of Butler passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 after fighting a valiant battle with MDS from the water while at Camp Lejeune. He was born in Butler on June 30, 1945 to the late Paul and Frances (Girard) Betty. After graduating from Butler High School in 1963, Rodger served his country in the USMC and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. While serving he trained to be a drill instructor and was on the Marine Boxing Team. He then started a 42 year career for ARMCO until his retirement. Rodger was known for being hardworking, regimented, committed, persistent, and was a “fighter”. He was a great dad, husband, and loving grandfather. Rodger was very athletic and was a golden glove boxer in high school. He was an avid gardener and loved to read. Rodger was the beloved husband of Linda (Wiles) Betty since their marriage in 1982; father of Andrea (Ryan) Logan, and Brandon (Samantha) Betty; brother of Paula (Chuck) McKee, and Brent Betty; loving grandfather of Amelia, Alison, and Breanna. He is also survived by his father in law, Frederick Wiles. He was preceded in death by his brother Bruce Betty. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 5-7 PM at SPENCER D.
