Ronald L. Fleeger, 87, of Butler, PA, passed away at home March 25, 2022, after a long illness.
Ron was born and raised in Butler, where he married his wife, Helen (Young) Fleeger. He made a career working at Armco Steel and retired in 1987.
A passion for plants led to Ron start his own business, Fleeger’s Florist and Greenhouse, which he ran with his wife. The greenhouse was well-known in the area and flourished for decades.
Flowers were just one area in life that Ron had a fervor for. His love of travel resulted in several trips across the United States where he and his family enjoyed exploring national parks and meeting new people.
After retirement, Ron kept traveling, but instead of his car, he rode in style on his motorcycle, with Helen seated behind him. They also enjoyed cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.
When he wasn’t on the road, Ron loved to cook. He was known for his Prime Rib and his amazing spaghetti sauce. But perhaps he was best known for his elaborate 4th of July fireworks displays in his backyard. Never a disappointment and brought him great joy.
Although he had many interests, family meant the most to him, especially his grandsons, Isaiah, and Josiah.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Fleeger. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Fleeger) Edwards, and his grandsons, Isaiah Edwards and his wife, Lucy Edwards, and Josiah Edwards.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA with Rev. Robert Edmundson, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to South Butler Community Meals on Wheels, 1091 Pittsburgh Rd., Route 8, Valencia, PA 16059
