The former Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House is launching a bid for a statewide office.
Democrat Mark Rozzi of Berks County has announced he is running for Auditor General.
Rozzi has been a state representative for Berks County since 2013. He briefly served as Pennsylvania Speaker of the House as a compromise candidate earlier this year.
The auditor general serves as the chief fiscal watchdog in the state. Rozzi joins State Senator Malcolm Kenyatta as the two Democrats in the race.
Republican incumbent Tim DeFoor has announced he is seeking re-election.
