The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Bryan Rust to a four-year contract extension worth $14 million. The deal will carry an annual cap value of $3.5 million. The 26-year old Rust had 13 goals and 25 assists last season.
Former New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and Willie O’Ree, who broke the NHL’s color barrier with the Boston Bruins in 1958, are among the inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Also being inducted are winger Martin St. Louis, who had 1,033 points over 17 seasons. Jayna Hefford, who won four Olympic medals with Team Canada, and Alexander Yakushov, a star for the Soviet Union, who won gold at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics.
