Ruth Anne (Bowman) Blose, 91, of Butler, PA passed away on Saturday May 27, 2023 at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Born on January 11, 1932, in Butler, PA; the daughter of the late Chester C. Bowman & Mary Gertrude (Argenbright) Bowman Kennedy.
Ruth Anne was a 1950 graduate of Butler High School, and a 1953 graduate of State Teachers College, Indiana, PA.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, was married there on March 30, 1957, was active in many committees and was a long-time member of the FUMC Quilters.
She was a committed volunteer at the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center.
Ruth Anne enjoyed many activities including: Sewing, quilting, cooking (and passed her skills on to the whole family!), reading, gardening, and especially loved being a worldwide traveler. She loved attending Penn State football games with Jim, Jean, her kids, and grandchildren. She was a long-serving member of GFWC Intermediate League for community service and held numerous leadership positions including Club President and Butler County President. A favorite event was the annual Antique Show & Sale. You may remember seeing her working at the Bon-Ton in the Misses Department (where she and her grandson had a friendly competition for credit card sales). She loved supporting her grandchildren at their numerous events and regaling family and friends with their accomplishments.
She was extremely proud to be the wife of a career Air Force officer and pilot. One of the highlights during that time was hosting the 1972 USA Olympic Speed Skating Team at the family home.
She is survived by her three children: Mark (Tammy) Blose, Ellen Blose, Paul (Maria) Blose; her sister Clara Jean Manning, brother Ronald (Dianne) Bowman, sister-in-law Rebecca Blose. She was a very proud Grandmother to 6 grandchildren: Jonathan (fiancée Elizabeth) Blose, Matthew (Helen) Zimmel, Audra (Sean) Welch, Taylor (Amber) Blose, Adam Blose, Daniel Blose; and 4 great-grandchildren: Parker Zimmel, Josephina, Nolan, and Malcolm Blose. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Maj. James H. Blose (ret.), whom she married on March 30, 1959, and who passed away on April 11, 1992.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Carl A. Kennedy, sister Helen Spangler and brother- in-law George Spangler, brother-in-law Robert Manning, sister-in-law Carolyn Blose, and brother-in-law Thomas Blose.
Ruth Anne was known as a sweet, kind, generous woman that had a great sense of humor and was a very classy lady. But most of all, she loved her family and looked forward to the annual Bowman Family Reunion.
