Ruth Edna Raybuck, 92, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, formerly of Butler, PA, passed away on December 20, 2017 at her daughter’s residence.
She was born September 15, 1925 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania to the late Jesse P. Stark and the late Bertha E. Anderson Stark. Ruth was raised in Tarentum, the oldest child of Jesse and Bertha Stark. Her dad was the owner of J.P. Stark & Son Feed Mill, which is still open today.
She married Daniel Raybuck in 1946. Together they had 3 children, twin girls, Donna and Virginia, and their brother, Larry. They built a home on Whitestown Road where they raised their kids. Their home became the neighborhood hub where all the kids loved to hang out and get her famous chocolate chip cookies and homemade potato chips.
Ruth had a sassy personality, never afraid to voice her opinion. She loved games, especially Scrabble and Solitaire. Ruth was an avid Steeler fan. She was an amazing quilt maker and also made numerous cross-stitch projects which many of her family and friends hold dear.
Ruth was the light of our lives, the lantern in our hearts that keeps our hopes and passions burning.
She is survived by her son, Larry E. (Cheryl) Raybuck of Rogersville, MO; two daughters, Donna M. (James) Clark of Pembroke Pines, FL, and Virginia L. (James) Chambers of Lake City, FL; six grandchildren, Stacie Clark, Jason J. Clark, Trisha Raybuck Byerly, Shayna Raybuck Strain, Jared Raybuck, and Jordan Raybuck; step grandchild, Doug Chambers; twelve great-grandchildren, Darrah, Rachel, and Anna Cooper, Natalie, Ella, and Charlotte Clark, Ashley Raybuck, Heather Selfridge, Kendric and Kyndal Raybuck, and Flynn and Grayson Strain; one great-great-grandson, Jeffrey Tyson; one brother, Floyd “Buzz” Stark of Tarentum, PA; one sister, May Ringer of Tarentum, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Raybuck, whom she married on October 26, 1946 and who passed away on March 31, 1992 ; a great-great-granddaughter, Ava Michele Clark, a step granddaughter, Laurie Chambers Rankin; a brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
Friends will be received Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held immediately following on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 8:00 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Rev. Jarrod Crawford of St. John’s Reformed Church, officiating.
Private burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Rd., Butler, PA 16001.
