Ruth M. Port

Ruth M. Port, 90 of Butler passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was born in Brownville Junction, Maine on June 28, 1933 to the late Claude and Marion (Doyle) Bain. After graduating from Brownville Junction High School, Ruth received her nursing degree from Eastern Maine Medical Center and her bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University. She worked as a nurse for over 30 years in the Butler Memorial Hospital. Ruth enjoyed quilting, genealogy, ceramics, country music, (especially John Fogerty and Bob Seger); loved God and spending time with her family, but most of all, she cherished life and loved to laugh. She was a past member of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Hall Ladie’s Auxiliary and was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ruth was loved and will be forever missed. She was the mother of Diane (Paul) Reep, John (Rosalind) Port, Stephanie (Ronald) Jackson, and Laurie (Ray Perez) Port; grandmother of Jennifer, Jessica, Shannon, and Josh. She is also survived by her great grandson Drake. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Port and her siblings Vernon and Claudia Bain. Family and friends will be received from 9-11 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Trinity Lutheran Church, a funeral service will immediately follow in the church at 11AM.
