Students in South Butler will be going to school through mid-June as a result of the recent teacher strike.
The South Butler School Board approved an amended school calendar during a meeting on Wednesday that puts students going to school through June 15.
This change will allow for students to receive the 180 days of instruction required by the state. South Butler teachers are obligated to work 187 days, according to their contract, but their exact schedule has not yet been determined.
The last day of school for South Butler students was supposed to be June 1 however teachers walked off the job on March 15 for nearly three weeks. The school board and teachers have started a required arbitration process during which time no negotiation sessions will take place.
