The South Butler County School District will place an even greater emphasis on anti-bullying when it begins classes at the end of the month.
The district says representatives of the “Rachel’s Challenge” program will be on campus and hosting community nights in early September.
The program is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, who was the first victim of the Columbine school shooting in 1999. It encourages students to see how small acts of kindness and acceptance can go very far in replacing bullying.
All South Butler students (kindergarten through 12th grade) will hear age-appropriate presentations on the program.
Other local districts- including Butler and Mars- have introduced Rachel’s Challenge programs to their students.
