The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in a shoot-out last night. Kris Letang scored a power play goal for the Pens with less than five minutes remaining in the game that sent the game to overtime. The Sabres outscored the Pens 2-0 in the shootout after a scoreless extra period.
Casey DeSmith made the start in net for the Penguins and stopped 30 of 33 shots. The Pens went two-for-two on power plays in the game. Sidney Crosby scored the other Penguins power play goal in the second period. It was his 23rd goal of the year. Evgeni Malkin scored his 13th goal of the year, also in the second period.
The Penguins travel to Madison Square Garden Friday night for a critical match-up with the New York Rangers.
