Oakland Township Elementary School, which was formally part of the Butler Area School District, has been sold for the second time Friday.
The Butler Area School Board agreed to sell the nearly 11-acre property last month to businessman Robert Oesterling for $200,000 and a hearing Friday in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas finalized that agreement. No one else attending the hearing announced intentions to make a bid, which was a possibility.
Oesterling owns an electronic cigarette and vaping operation based in Clarion County and reportedly plans to use the former school in Butler County as a warehouse.
Part of the agreement is that the sale must close in the next ten days.
The board had previously agreed to sell the property last year to businessman Monty Edgar for $360,000 but that deal fell through when problems were found with the facility’s water supply. The board spent over $10,000 in an effort to diagnose and correct the issues but any additional work needed will be the responsibility of the new buyer.
