Sally A. Brown, 83, of Butler, passed away in North Hills UPMC Passavant Hospital on January 16, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Born in Butler on January 9, 1935, Sally was the daughter of the late Jack and Henrietta Covert Zimmer.
She graduated from Mars High School in 1953 and received her real estate license through Duquesne University. She was the very first manager of Whitestown Village when it was first built. Later she made her living in sales including office equipment for Lloyd Johnson and Co. Butler, Bleachers for Playtime Equipment Corp. Mars, Real Estate for Northwood Realty – Hampton Office, and lastly brick for Cook Brothers Brick – Penn Twp. till their closing.
She was a very good cook and known for her delicious pies. She was a diehard Penguin fan and never missed watching a game. When her grandchildren were younger she enjoyed being a “Hockey Grandma” watching Don play hockey and also watching her granddaughter Sarah compete in Barrel Racing with her horses at the Butler Fair and Farm Show.
She was Christian by faith and taught Sunday School in the 1960’s at Old Union Presbyterian Church. She was a Past President of Penn Glade Lioness Club Penn Twp. and belonged to Eastern Star Butler.
She is survived by one son, John F. “Skip” Cashdollar, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Mars, PA; one daughter, Doris Hartzell of Butler, PA; two sisters, Gloria McElroy and her husband Greg of Grove City, PA, Lillian Damaska of Southhampton, MA; one brother, Carl Kellerman Jr. and his wife Patricia of Butler, PA; two grandchildren, Donald Hartzell of Butler, PA and Sarah Cashdollar of Bloomsdale, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Brown, one infant grandson, and her brother John Zimmer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001 with Pastor Tim Goodman of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
