Sarah “Sally” Anne Madden Bauer, 85, of Butler, quietly departed for Heaven on October 14, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Huntingdon, PA on May 8, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Fredda (Richardson) Madden and William “Carlton” Madden.
Sally grew up in Beaver, PA and graduated from Beaver High School in 1956. She attended Edinboro State Teachers College and graduated from The Robert Morris School in 1958.
She married the love of her life, Ronald Bauer, on November 6, 1965, and was with him until his passing in 1995. Sally was a homemaker for most of her life but had several long-term jobs. Her last and favorite job was as a Foster Grandparent in the Head Start Program at Center Avenue School and The Butler County Children’s Center for 11 years, until the pandemic. She enjoyed helping with the little ones who affectionately called her “Grandma Sally”.
Sally loved spending her free time with her own beloved grandchildren, shopping and chatting with her friends over coffee and she especially loved traveling with her sister, who made so many trips possible for her in her later years.
She is survived by her sister and travel companion, Elizabeth “Betty” Carter, her daughter Candace Gibson and son-in-law Michael Gibson, her grandson Michael Martin and granddaughter-in-law Jenessa Martin, granddaughters Julia and Maisy Gibson and a precious great-grandson on the way, Tanner Martin.
She is also survived by her stepdaughter Marla (Angelo) Coradi and stepson Brian Bauer, grandchildren Elizabeth (Vinnie) Paine and David (Katie) Coradi, great-grandchildren Siena and Leo Paine and Colson and Vivi Coradi, with another precious one on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson Eric Bauer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001 with Rev. Bob Edmundson, officiating.
