Sarah “Sally” Marie Barlow Kennedy, age 87, of Portersville, peacefully passed away on Sunday August 14,2022 at Quality Life Services in Grove City, while on Hospice care.
Born May 27,1935 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Openshaw Barlow.
Prior to meeting her husband Jack and because of her sister Nancy’s testimony, Sally asked Jesus to be her Savior and Lord. Sally’s faith, family, and passion for music fulfilled her life as a Pastor’s wife. She traveled with her husband Rev. John “Jack” E. Kennedy, II from church to church and to numerous mission fields where they served in Ghana, Kenya, Haiti, and Mali. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at the churches he pastored at, including the Mountville Presbyterian Church in Portersville, churches in Rhode Island, New York, Ohio, and the Fairmount Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Franklin Park.
She received her BS in Music from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a former music teacher at the Portersville Christian School. Sally enjoyed teaching piano and organ lessons as well as a director of daycares in Steubenville, OH and Nairobi, Kenya.
Sally will be remembered for her hospitality, where she was a good cook and enjoyed guests in her home.
Surviving are her children Rebecca (Kevin) Lippy of Hanover, PA, John P. Kennedy of Portersville, David P. (Suzi) Kennedy of Granville, OH, Peter W. (Tammy) Kennedy of Garner, NC, Stephen E. (Tammy) Kennedy of Portersville, and Joy (Hank) Sallmen of Fredonia; thirteen Grandchildren; twelve Great Grandchildren; two Great Great Granddaughters; two sister in laws Betsy Barlow and Joan Kennedy; one niece, and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John “Jack” E. Kennedy, II whom she married June 8,1957 and passed away April 10, 2002; a grandson Keith E. Lippy; her sister Nancy Barlow; her brothers John Barlow and James Barlow; and a nephew Johnny Barlow.
Visitation will be on Sunday August 21,2022 from 1pm to 4pm at the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, pc., 387 Main Street, Prospect.
Funeral service will be on Monday, August 22,2022 at 11am in the Raisley Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Charles, officiating.
Interment will be in The Presbyterian Church of Portersville Cemetery, Portersville, PA.
