The Saxonburg Borough Manager is facing charges after he allegedly shot and killed a neighbor’s dog.
The incident happened on November 11th on Goldscheitter Road in Buffalo Township. Steven May is accused of shooting a neighbor’s red merle Australian Shepherd with a crossbow, however he says it was a mistake.
According to May’s attorney, he thought he was shooting a coyote on his property.
Police say that May called the dog’s owner three days after the shooting and told him he found the dog behind a dumpster at the Saxonburg Borough building.
May would later confess to the neighbor that he shot the dog, and offered to pay for a new one.
May was charged Wednesday, arraigned, and released.
