The Saxonburg community is mourning the loss of a young student and his grandfather.
12-year-old Zane Rupert and his 65-year-old grandfather David Faulx died in a crash Friday night in Winfield Township.
According to police, their vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck on Winfield Road around 10 p.m. that night. Police believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
Zane was a football player for the Saxonburg Spartans. His team and many others in the community held a memorial Saturday night at Knoch High School.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses for Rupert’s family.
