South Butler community members are invited to attend an upcoming presentation about ways to promote kindness and respect.
The South Butler County School District is presenting ‘Rachel’s Challenge Community Night’ on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. at the High School auditorium. These programs are identical and will each last about 90 minutes. Child care will be available.
This program is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy. Students may attend with parents, but this program is geared towards secondary students. Student leaders will receive specific training during school assemblies also on Tuesday and Wednesday. Parents have the ability to opt-out their child by completing a form available on the district’s website.
Students at South Butler’s Primary and Intermediate Elementary schools will see a similar assembly on Monday that does not include discussion of the Columbine tragedy.
