A scholarship is being developed to honor the life of Caitlyn Kaufman at Butler County Community College.
Kaufman was a nursing graduate of BC3 and Ruth Purcell, the Executive Director of college’s foundation, says the process started just after her death.
“It is a nursing scholarship, and it was started almost right after Caitlyn passed by Kylie Cribs who works in our EMS department and Caitlyn’s uncle,” Purcell said.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you have to be a full-time nursing student in your second year and, while it’s not necessary, those who developed the scholarship would like to see it go to an athlete in honor of Caitlyn who was swimmer.
“The first gift came in on December 17th, and right now it is over $10,000,” Purcell said.
Kaufman was a Butler native killed in a shooting that happened earlier this month in Nashville.
