Ten Butler High School graduates have been awarded scholarships in memory of a four-year-old boy.
Colbee Regis Lovich died in 2014 from injuries sustained in an ATV crash in Summit Township.
Following the accident, his mother, Kelli Jo Lovich, created a scholarship program in his name in hopes of honoring him.
“My son was so young but he loved to help and I think he’s really happy with the decision that we’ve made to continue to help others in his memory,” Kelli Jo said Wednesday.
A total of $40,000 in scholarships will be presented Thursday from the Colbee Regis Lovich Memorial Fund. An additional $5,000 has been donated to Children’s Hospital- where Colbee was treated following his crash- and a $1,000 scholarship was given to the family of a 4-year-old so the child attend St. Mary’s Preschool in Herman where Colbee once attended.
The 4th annual Colbee Regis Lovich Memorial motorcycle ride and dinner- which will help fund next year’s scholarships- will be held on Aug. 25 at the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.
