School districts all across the county are combining their efforts to help healthcare workers on the front lines.
The districts are donating hundreds of packages of personal protective equipment to Butler Memorial Hospital. The distribution took place at Seneca Valley’s administrative offices yesterday afternoon.
Items donated included face masks, protective gloves, and safety glasses among other equipment.
“We are better when we collaborate and work together,” said Dr. Tracey Vitale, Superintendent of Seneca Valley School District. “These donations could save a life – one of our employees, one of our students, one of our community members – or even one of our family members.”
Dr. Vitale, a member of the Butler Health System Board of Trustees, worked with the other districts to pick up the equipment, which is packed and ready to go.
Specific donation items and amount totals are:
Isolation Gowns – 100
Goggles – 73
Safety Glasses/Visors – 296
N95 Respirator Masks – 171
Face masks (latex-free) – 712
Gloves (latex, latex-free, vinyl and nitrile) – 76,387
In addition, the schools were able to provided antiseptic towelettes, disposable pillow cases, wipes, rubbing alcohol, lab coats, exam table covers, cotton-tipped applicators, hair nets and thermometer covers.
“The first responders, doctors and nurses are the true heroes in this pandemic,” said Dr. Vitale. “This is a prime example of when we all work together in Butler County; we get things done.”
